USNA’s Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center--The U.S. Naval Academy has a building partially named in Lt.Col. William G. "Bill" Leftwich’s honor on its campus at Annapolis, Maryland. The Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center was dedicated May 12, 1995. Mrs. Jane Leftwich Michael Jr. (she eventually remarried another outstanding Marine, Col. Richard L. Michael Jr., who served two tours in Vietnam and fought on Guadalcanal and Peleliu in WW II) attended the ceremony. The facility is located on the harbor side of Halsey Field House just inside Gate 1. Bill Leftwich Jr. and Capt. Lyle Oliver Armel II, USN (Ret.) join many other notable USNA graduates to have buildings named in their honor…and rightfully so.Also, see the USNA website: http://www.usna.edu/NAFPRODV/VC/ for more information on the Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center.
